With 92 percent of people reading online local business reviews, it is no doubt that getting reviews for your law practice is important. At GNGF, we put a lot of emphasis on getting reviews on Google, Avvo, Facebook, and Yelp.
We recently included an article in our monthly newsletter about changes to Google reviews. But since the printing of that article, we’ve learned even more about the best ways to encourage clients to leave these coveted reviews because of these recent changes.
Below are a few frequently asked questions and answers about some updates to how one can leave a Google review.
What account information do I need to leave a Google review?
Due to recent changes, you now need a Google account in order to leave a review on a Google Business page. One used to need a Google+ account in order to leave a review but this is no longer a requirement because a Google+ account is only one type of Google account.
What is considered a Google account?
- Gmail
- YouTube
- Android
- Blogger
- AdWords
- Google+
- Feedburner
- AdSense
- Drive
- Calendar
- Voice
- And more.
What if my client doesn’t have any Google account?
The easiest account to create is a Gmail account. The process is only a few steps and it is free. In these situations, we’d encourage you to guide your client through this process.
Can a client leave an anonymous Google review?
Because a client’s review will be attached to any of the Google accounts mentioned above, they will not be anonymous. However, one can choose to create a Gmail or other account that is not an indicator of their identity if they do not wish to have their name associated with the review.
This may be the case for lawyers practicing criminal defense as their client might not want their name or personal Gmail account associated with a testimonial about their sensitive proceedings.
Regardless, though, no case details should be disclosed in the leaving of the review so a client should not be concerned about their name being associated with the crime or specific issue they sought legal help for.
Have more questions?
Please feel free to tweet at @GNGFound or ask your GNGF Account Manager if you have any questions about the process of leaving reviews. We expect that Google will continue to make changes like these.
