A primary tool in any designers’ arsenal is a list of good visual asset resources. Whether this is stock photography, vector drawings, or icon sets, the number of online resources are seemingly endless. While working as a web designer, I’ve used several different resources; here are a few of my and the GNGF teams’ favorites.
THE STOCKS.IM
There are a surprising number of royalty-free photography resources online that provide high-quality imagery. But scouring each of these pages individually can be time-consuming and irritating. In comes The Stocks.IM, a site that pulls these image sites into one place for you.
This site gives you access to sites like Pixabay, Unsplash, and New Old Stock just to name a few. It’s a web designer’s dream for quickly finding large, scenic images as well as more specific imagery to accompany legal blogs and practice area pages. We frequently utilize this site to find imagery for our newsletter.
PIKTOCHART
I don’t have to tell you that infographics are one of the most shared types of content on social media, especially on sites that are great for link-building like Pinterest. Luckily you don’t have to shell out for the Adobe Creative Suite to create effective and visually interesting infographics.
Piktochart allows you to access a wide database of templates and illustrations to create your own compelling infographics. Their built-in guides and tools ensure that you’re making something beautiful, even if you don’t have a design background. This tool is great for any non-designer or designer alike to quickly create a custom graphic to share online. This is especially handy when you want to create an infographic as a fast response to a news story or landmark case.
CREATIVE MARKET
Creative Market is a marketplace for designers and creators, allowing them to sell their creative assets or purchase from other designers. You can buy everything from PowerPoint templates, typefaces, even logo designs. Plus, every Monday they feature 6 free downloads, great for anyone looking to build up their visual asset library on the cheap.
The elegant document templates available for download on this site are sure to elevate any presentation or proposal you may be developing, and are usually available in a wide number of programs.
Accessing quality visual assets opens a lot of doors for you to create professional and creative design materials. What other sites have you found to supplement your asset library? Let us know on Twitter @gngfound.
