In past newsletters, we’ve spoken about the importance of clear and consistent information in directory listings, even down to “Suite” versus “Ste.”
For attorneys and firms who share an office building with other law firms, correct directory listings are even more important—and even trickier to maintain. Google and other directory services can easily mix up the information of two firms when they share an office building or have a similar name.
Just recently, we cleaned up the directory listings of one client after we found that Google had changed their address and photos to another firm’s in the same building.
When potential clients search for your office, it’s critical that they find the correct name, address, and phone number. This applies online and in real life. Your firm should monitor its Google+ Local listing, among other citations, to ensure that it hasn’t been associated with any other firms nearby.
It is also important to have clear physical signage that will easily guide clients to your door, not to another law firm in the building. This may seem obvious, but having a consistent name and logo on signs will help clear up any confusion in an office building full of law firms.
